God Chasers Daily Devotion-#6-The Secret Place

Retire from the world each day to some private spot, even if it be only the bedroom (for a while I retreated to the furnace room for want of a better place). Stay in the secret place till the surrounding noises begin to fade out of your heart and a sense of God’s presence envelops you. Deliberately tune out the unpleasant sounds and come out of your closet determined not to hear them. Listen for the inward Voice till you learn to recognize it.

Reflection By Pastor Kevin
Mark 1:35  And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

In this scripture we see Jesus setting this example. We need to separate ourselves from the world and the things of the world and "quiet the noise" that they make. When we designate a place to be our designated place of prayer we find that the presence of God meets us there. If we are able to set a designated time, we will find the presence meets us there and is waiting for us. This is also why it is so important to attend your local church. It is a place designated to worship the Lord and expect to meet Him and He shows up!
In our walks with the Lord we need to practice quieting the noise of the world. The noise of the world and the cares of life will try to drown out the voice of the Spirit. It is so important to connect with the Spirit in prayer and silence the many voices of the world we live in. Once we have established our secret and quiet place and have learned to hear & recognize the inner voice of the Spirit while there, it becomes much easier to hear and recognize Him when we are out there away from our "spot." Choose your designated spot today. Go there daily morning, evening and any other time you can. Each time we enter this place of prayer we should leave changed. Enjoy His presence, Hear His Voice and dwell in the secret place. (P.K.)
