Satan’s most successful trick is to get us to race to false finish lines. He works tirelessly to get us to stop short and say, “We’ve made it!” He delights when he sees us fall or pull over to the wayside only to notice at the last moment that the finish line is still ahead. The apostle knew of what he spoke when he said, “I press toward the mark, forgetting those things that are behind” (see Phil. 3:13-14).

Reflection by Pastor Kevin
Php 3:12 Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
Php 3:13 Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,
Php 3:14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. KJV

Php 3:14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. KJV
Php 3:12 Not that I have already obtained it [this goal of being Christlike] or have already been made perfect, but I actively press on so that I may take hold of that [perfection] for which Christ Jesus took hold of me and made me His own. [1Co_9:24; 1Ti_6:12]
Php 3:13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider that I have made it my own yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,
Php 3:14 I press on toward the goal to win the [heavenly] prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. AMP

There is no finish line in our walk and relationship with God. Even when we make it to Heaven that is not really a finish line because it is the beginning of our eternal life. The enemy tries to get us to place of satisfaction, acceptance and complacency. He wants us to think that there is nor more to do or nothing more to gain. He tries to get us to stop dead in our tracks. Rather than try to convince us to give up sometimes the enemy will paint the illusion that we are finished. Do not fall for it! We are never finished! Keep pressing towards God and the destiny He has for you! Do not fall for false finish lines, stay on the course, never give up and keep chasing our God! (P.K.)

As humans it is difficult for us to see the finish line if it is too far or too difficult to reach and we trick ourselves by setting smaller shorter attainable goals on the way to the finish line. I am glad we are doing this study as it helps me seek and read His word in smaller bites that I can digest and want more. The thought of seeking without some assistance can be overwhelming and stifling. TY PK
