If My people will humble themselves and pray and seek My face… (2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV).
There is a step beyond prayer. It’s the place of seeking His face—not just His hands, not just His blessings and benefits, but seeking Him and His face. For too long we’ve wanted Him to slip His hand out from under the veil to dispense our allowance, while He has longed for us to enter in to behold Him and worship Him. If you get His face, you gain His favor. His hands bless where His favor flows.

2Chronicles 7:14 and My people, who are called by My Name, humble themselves, and pray and seek (crave, require as a necessity) My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear [them] from heaven, and forgive their sin and heal their land. AMP
James 4:10 Humble yourselves [feeling very insignificant] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up and make your lives significant].
The Key word in these scriptures is Humble. To humble is to bring into subjection, to depress, to bring low. We need to make ourselves low/bow down before our God. Always remembering who He is and how insignificant we truly are. The only significance we have is not of our own but only comes from God. We need to be humble before the Lord in all areas of our lives. We need to especially humble in our prayers always remembering who we are praying to. People get praying with boldness confused and actually tell God what to do. We can not tell God what to do. However, we can tell Him what His Word says. He will fulfill His Word. We must always remain humble before the Lord, always remembering that it is only through His grace that we have access to Him.
The other key which appears in 2 Chronicles 7:14 is seek which means to search out literally as a requirement or necessity. So as we continue to seek our God. Seek Him with all humility and as if His presence is a necessity that you crave and could not survive without! (P.K.)
