God Chasers Daily Devotion-#31-Crushed

Did you notice that God didn’t break Mary’s alabaster box? Mary had to break it. If you want to have that kind of encounter with God, then you will have to “break” yourself. The highest level of worship comes from brokenness, and there are no shortcuts or formulas to help you “reach the top.” No one can do it for you; that is something only you can do. But if you do, God will stop just to spend time with you.

Reflection by Pastor Kevin

Psalm 34:18 KJV The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
Psaim 51:17 KJV The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
If we want to be close to the Lord. If we want Him close to us. We have to get out of the way. We have to make choice. We have to decide You God not me. You will Lord not mine. We must get out of the way. We must become broken before the Lord. We must recognize His greatness, His righteousness, His majestic essence. The Word contrite means to be crushed. Let us be crushed before the Lord. Let all we think is valuable be crushed. Like the aroma of an alabaster box filled with spices fills the room when crushed, so will a beauty aroma fill heaven and the nostrils of our Lord when we crush ourselves before the Lord! (P.K)
